In a world filled with a full array of magical creatures and enchantments, one of the strongest are Lunarbeasts, also colloquially known as Werewolves. There are five major clans: HellFang, GraveHowl, IronBite, AmberEye, and BoneClaw; the exact interplay of classism and bureaucracy has subtle differences across each clan, but all respect the power and might of the Warrior class.
Lunarbeasts are inherently stronger than most other species, extremely resilient, and are naturally immune to most external magic. They are also deeply tied to the phases of the moon, their power growing and waning with each phase.
On the full moon, Lunars are affected by moonlust; an aggressive, overbearing and frenetic energy. In uncivilized times past, Lunarbeasts would fully shift into a monstrous wolf form in every full moon and wage horrible battles that could devastate anyone around them. Now, in a more civilized society and cognizant of the restrictions and accords between all other species, Lunarbeasts consider shifting at all to be barbaric and shameful, emphasizing a culture of control and restriction. The moonlust energy is channeled into other pursuits; and one of the most effective ones to have been found is through sexual release.
The elite of each clan go through rigorous training to achieve becoming a Warrior class member, and then serve contracts arranged by their clan Alphas with outside societies. Werewolf Warriors are highly prized as guards, security detail, and as mercenaries; for anyone with enough money, they can temporarily control their own Lunarbeasts, with the money going back into their clan directly.
Four Warriors from different clans are assigned to an extremely lucrative and high profile contract; defending a cherished Prince for a new cult, the Church of the Eternal One, for three months. These Lunars each have their own reasons for taking this job, and reasons why they need the contract to end well.
